Sand dunes are like adrenaline for my photographic eye. Walking through the vast piles of sand is like walking through the brush strokes of a painting. Every step produces a new alignment of lines and colors from the tiniest details to the broadest panoramas. During the afternoon when the sun hangs high, textures emerge as the prominent details and create otherworldly scenes. When the sun nears the horizon it is a world of color and contrast perfect for my abstract interests. Once the sun has set, the radiating grains are able to cool and the hard lines smooth over and begin to blend. This harsh landscape, forever changing with the wind, can be sharp and jagged as well as smooth and soft. It creates arguments between macro and wide angle visions while forcing the minimalist to reconcile with chaos.
This landscape is one I will never tire of. The dunes see the height of my creativity. For this reason I have made "Sands" an open study. This collection will continue to grow just as the dunes will.
