"As the sun sauntered off on a quest for tomorrow, its dusk trail lingered to kiss the Earth goodnight. The waning light smoothed the contours of the hills slowly settling their breath. Painted by the calm energy of a silent night, the sea of sand radiated with peace as it slipped into dreamland. As the tones deepened the landscape absorbed any lingering tension, enveloping the soul in a fantasy world of bliss. The ethereal scene transcended reality, humbling the midnight wanderer in search of a ladder back to Earth."
Purgatory on Earth, the Sands Study documents the elegant beauty of the hellish dune landscape. The lore of purgatory is one of intense suffering, a place designed to punish the souls vanquished to it in order to purify them for eternal peace. The Sands Study is my attempt to capture the peace within the brutal landscape of the sand dunes. You can read the entire series statement and browse the rest of the collection here.
