Liminal Collection
There are moments where our projection of reality dissipates, moments when our personal narrative goes quiet while our story lives on. In these moments, our internal commentary falls silent, and a heightened sense of awareness manifests as we finally hear life without interruption. Paradoxically, this lucid state begins when we are unaware and ends as soon as we become aware of it, but during this fragile intermission, we engage in intimate conversations with our environment.
A sturdy barricade exists between these two states, but nature has an innate ability to dissolve the walls erected by the ego, determined to interpret the world for us. Escape into the outdoors, and the self begins to soften. As the landscape is afforded the patience to peel back the filters of perception, its true depth of character is revealed. It is through this impartial lens that the photographs in the Liminal Collection emerge.
Each photograph is the result of a sustained, conscious conversation with the landscape, when the barrier between observer and subject evaporates and the voice of nature's quiet details is amplified. While presence lends an ear, the eye transcribes the encounter, preserving the inherent truth of the soft spoken earth. The results are honest documentation that interprets the subtle nuances of nature discovered from the seat of consciousness.
The Liminal Collection provides a glimpse behind the veil of time and place. Each image is a remnant of a moment that cannot be replicated or revisited, a bridge between experience and memory. The work provides an opportunity to slow down and encounter the landscape from the threshold of what is seen and what is known. The series is structured to preserve the delicacy of these lucid moments and offer an invitation into the state in which they occurred.
