"#14"

White Sands National Park, New Mexico

"Hard work isn’t actually that hard. What’s hard is convincing ourselves that we’re capable. The unknown isn’t that scary. What’s scary is our ability to navigate it. We believe we fear failure when we really fear success. We believe we can’t even though we know we can. We surrender to the darkness despite being the light. The limits of our potential are infinite and yet we hold close to shore. Laden with an anchor that says we’re not enough, if we just let go we will see that we’re everything."

Purgatory on Earth, the Sands Study documents the elegant beauty of the hellish dune landscape. The lore of purgatory is one of intense suffering, a place designed to punish the souls vanquished to it in order to purify them for eternal peace. The Sands Study is my attempt to capture the peace within the brutal landscape of the sand dunes. You can read the entire series statement and browse the rest of the collection here.
