"Calm enters the body like a spirit possessing the soul. It wafts in slowly, gingerly relieving a single nerve, cautiously deepening its bite as inconspicuously as a tick. Its presence amplifies gradually, invading the host with patience and precision, strategically soothing pressure points as it absorbs its prey. Once it enters the bloodstream it consumes the body like a morphine drip, sweeping through the cells, eradicating stress. As it seizes control it swells, banishing tension and enveloping the body in an aura of peace. The victim, subdued and drained, has fulfilled its purpose and is left as helpless as a feather in the wind."
Purgatory on Earth, the Sands Study documents the elegant beauty of the hellish dune landscape. The lore of purgatory is one of intense suffering, a place designed to punish the souls vanquished to it in order to purify them for eternal peace. The Sands Study is my attempt to capture the peace within the brutal landscape of the sand dunes. You can read the entire series statement and browse the rest of the collection here.
