"Like a dream, presence arose with the brilliance of the scene. Before me, an ocean of clouds rolled into oblivion with a mesmerizing lunar luminance. The silky waves shimmered in the night, radiating the glow from the star filled sky as reality departed. Like an eagle, I soared with the rush of exuberance, riding the draft of the glowing tide through the wondrous scene. With eternity on the horizon and freedom beneath my wings I surrendered to the now and dove. Crashing through the thin veil of time I found myself submerged in the fluidity of peace. My burdens and stress had been knocked off on impact and laid waiting at the surface as I bobbed in the flow of momentary enlightenment."
Purgatory on Earth, the Sands Study documents the elegant beauty of the hellish dune landscape. The lore of purgatory is one of intense suffering, a place designed to punish the souls vanquished to it in order to purify them for eternal peace. The Sands Study is my attempt to capture the peace within the brutal landscape of the sand dunes. You can read the entire series statement and browse the rest of the collection here.
