"Soft and soothing, the landscape hung in the air, suspended somewhere between heaven and reality. Whether the clouds had fallen to Earth, or I into limbo, there was comfort in having this barren dreamscape to myself. Void of textures, the subtle hills toyed with my perception but the peace and solitude made for a blissful search for my maker I felt certain to meet. Then a disruption. A trail carved by the wind that had clearly aided in its escape. Winding through the powdered sugar dunes to a destination unknown, there was only one place that could possibly lie beyond, cloud ten."
Purgatory on Earth, the Sands Study documents the elegant beauty of the hellish dune landscape. The lore of purgatory is one of intense suffering, a place designed to punish the souls vanquished to it in order to purify them for eternal peace. The Sands Study is my attempt to capture the peace within the brutal landscape of the sand dunes. You can read the entire series statement and browse the rest of the collection here.
