"A working mind can never know beauty for beauty does not require processing. Sheer beauty is stunning, literally shocking the brain into beholding its magnificence. That’s why it is coveted, subconsciously we crave the quiet. The custom of mental exhaustion is a fallacy and, like bread for the starving, beauty is the cure for the relentless contemplation. Scarcity has become the issue. As we’ve lost control of our ability to rest we reward that which keeps the engine churning. But elegance is eternal and should be the gold to the pennies of the contemplative."

Purgatory on Earth, the Sands Study documents the elegant beauty of the hellish dune landscape. The lore of purgatory is one of intense suffering, a place designed to punish the souls vanquished to it in order to purify them for eternal peace. The Sands Study is my attempt to capture the peace within the brutal landscape of the sand dunes. You can read the entire series statement and browse the rest of the collection here.
